The Grand Ronde powwow is such a special event and it was even better this year. I feel fortunate to live a few miles from this beautiful arena. In the evening, the Chinook Canoe Family played hand drums and even sang a birthday song to everyone having a birthday! I would have recorded it but some times I have to put down the phone and be in the moment. #grandrondepowwow
This morning I had the good fortune of joining Terria Smith for a discussion on KALW’s Your Call about indigenous perspectives on America at 250 years. She is a brilliant gem and I am so excited for the world to read her new book “I Love You So Many: A Native Memoir of Adventure, Culture, and Family.” #heydaybooks
